A Show of Support for a Friend

The other day I had to stop what I was doing and listen to a story that really made me think about my friends, my family and all those I love. It was about Kelli Pickler, the country music star, who shaved her head in support of a close friend battling breast cancer.

Pickler’s friend is 36-years-old and Kelli calls her a “sister”. Her friend, who is married and is raising two children, has already undergone a double mastectomy. You can read more here. You can understand why this show of support for a “sister”, or best friend, or family member is so touching and important. Cancer touches almost everyone in our lives. It’s something that needs to be studied constantly and, hopefully one day, destroyed. It got me thinking that I need to do something for all those battling cancer. We have seen the pink ribbons all month long. Heck, even the NFL has their players wearing pink while beating each other up on the football field! There had to be something I could do to show my support.
